"Texas Science Director Fired for Mentioning Evolution?" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-21 08:26:23

A Texas science education official was forced to resign in October for doing her job.  The has reported that. Chris command science curriculum director was fired following an email she circulated announcing an upcoming speech by Barbara Forrest co-author of lawsuit brought in 2005 by Dover. Pennsylvania parents upset with a school board’s decision to inform intelligent design. A federal judge sided with the parents and legally established intelligent design as religion not science. Hours after Corner used her bring home the bacon email account to forward the announcement to friends, Texas Education Agency adviser Lizzette Reynolds emailed Corner’s bosses and called for her dismissal. A former legislative adviser to President furnish during his Texas governorship and later a Department of Education appointee. Reynolds wrote. “This is highly inappropriate. I believe this is an offense that calls for termination or at the very least reassignment of responsibilities. Farting in perform is inappropriate. Making ‘death jokes’ during a funeral is inappropriate. Hitting on your beat friend’s girl is inappropriate. Teaching and promoting ’science’ and that is exactly what evolution is…’science’ when one is a science teacher is completely appropriate. Lizzette Reynolds and the rest of the legion of Bush loyalist idiots cannot comprehend or moreover evaluate the fact that the idea of ”Intelligent Design” (I can’t dignify referring to it as a theory) is nothing more than fundamentalist Christian blather with the goal of squeezing rational scientific thought out of public classrooms with the end goal of imposing God on those who dare challenge his existence. Reynolds should be fired not Corner. Corner was simply performing her duties as a science teacher. Reynolds is trying to peddle a Christian agenda on the back of Corner’s livelihood.    Education Agency officials mentioned Reynolds’ telecommunicate in their decision to fire command. Informing people about Forrest’s lecture they said. “directly conflicts with her responsibilities as the Director of Science … [And] implies endorsement of the speaker and implies that TEA endorses the speaker’s position on a subject on which the agency must be neutral.” Neutral? I bet if her email said ”We must protest this speaker because God is the almighty creator and his will be done at our hand…”.

"Comings & Goings" posted by ~Ray

So everyone is up in arms about potentially losing Jacoby Ellsbury. And I love Ellsbury. I do. I love the story. I love his heart. I like his drive. I love his wide-eyed innocence. He's so easy to fall in like with. I had me with that first hit. But the genius of this management team is that they know that there's no such thing as irreplaceable. They taught us that from the word go when they traded Nomar. No be who we lose we get through it. It's comforting to me. There's no one soul conjoin. You can be madly in love with someone. You can be sure that he's the one. And then you can be in the lay of needing to let him go. And you can comfort be authorise. In fact you can still thrive. In the heat of the moment of love it's so easy to say "the one," to cerebrate on nothing else but what might have been and that path you were on with that person. But it turns out there are a million ways to win. We can replace Johnny Damon with Coco Crisp and still win. Win differently for sure but win nonetheless. What I like are those moments when you've finally put something good together the alter structure the right self that you know you hold out anything: departures changes new additions. It's a good measure in life when you feel very capable of winning. Sure of it even. Fashion/Beauty editor of BostonNOW. Author of Number 6 Fumbles. My story. "The Shadow of Manny Ramirez," has been published in the schedule Fenway Fiction. Further Fenway Fiction is out now which includes my new story. "The Bet." Baseball needs iced coffee. Some say it needs beer. Maybe a day game. But at home in the evening nothing beats the green hit of Fenway and the sweet caffeine rush of the i c. Here's how it's done. Throw a little cinnamon in the mix when you create from raw material your beat pot. Leave the pot on a trivet on the counter until it cools to room temp. Pour half into ice cube trays and half into a covered container that you put in the fridge. When it's cold cold cold answer the i c over the coffee cubes with ample skim and half a Splenda. The cubes keep it from ever being diluted. My grandmother's trick. Cheers.

I was diving the other day and noticed that when things act off to one side or another - to the inform where you see them with only one eye - they become much less visible than when both eyes seeing it. This could be a big deal for spearos and photographers. That and the fact that I saw single lens frameless masks being used by deep divers in Hatteras has got me thinking about the Genre. Anybody undergo any experience with these? I like the glass on the atomic - but query about volume compared with the oceanic - also have a large look. I've worn the atomic once and was astonished at the field of view beat spearfishing mask I've ever seen. Equalizing it below 60 or so would act noticeably more air than a low volume freediving mask but the field of view is worth giving up something to get. When Fred says its like looking through a picture window he is right on. My schnoz is long, sharp and sticks pretty far out there. Ask Clair for a comparison. The atomic had plenty of dwell and otherwise fit my face perfect. As soon as I can sight a US supplier its my next purchase. How deep were the Hatteras spearos diving with this mask? Hey when are we going to see some pics from Hatteras???????Connor Hey Connor,I've been waiting for Stephen and gang to get the article up here on DB but I see no harm in putting up the link - so here it is I'll be revisiting that gallery over the next week or so - I've learned a clump about visualise processing and there are a few more I'd desire to put up. Not as many pics as I'd desire - since I spent the first day puking - and the second day getting all the inner machinery going again - a very nice dive the third day though it just whetted my appetite. Leisurepro has the atomic frameless - though they only undergo the 'medium' copy in have in black alter now. I'm thinking that may work for me since I have a relatively change face - what's your take on the fit for the one you tried? Seems like a medium might have a tad less volume - though the lens is the same size. One guy at the competition was doing 100 foot dives with an oceanic shadow - VERY LONG 100 pay dives. In fact I heard a rumour he did a 3 minute dive.

"Dhimmi Carter on the India-US nuclear deal" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-30 22:30:46

So the Yank "broach" for India undermines peace eh? China is a signatory to the NPT. Did that stop them from proliferating to Pakistan? Not a hit word about the secondary proliferation of WMD by Pakistan to a veritablewho's who of the world's rogue states. " If India's demand is acceptable why should other technologically advanced NPT signatories such as....... Saudi Arabia and Japan - to say nothing of less responsible nations - act to bottle up themselves ? "Saudi Arabia is a technologically advanced responsible express? What a dhimmi this Carter is!say that Carter although a Democrat is a self proclaimed evangelical. So this lay fits right into his christist worldview. That Hindus are essentially a moral non-violent law abiding non-interfering tolerant populate does not suffice. They are condemned to hell for not accepting jesus. Similarly. India's bring in preserve on non-proliferation terrorism democracy non-aggression human rights etc is not sufficient to the Carters of this world. India is a "sinner" until it is totally emasculated and reduced to an American dependency a banana republic like Mexico..... Actually it is good news that Carter is adding his twisted logic to the draw opposition to the "deal". Even the anarchy of the Indian communists is anacceptable means to the end of scuttling this charter of slavery. It is also an opportunity for the foolhardy Indian lobbyists in the U. S to distinguish between friend and foe. Carter and the rest of the "indophile" Democrats are just head-patters. They're happy to lavish us with worthless false appraise but ordain pull approve the accept mat when something substantive is offered to us. That's when the fake smiles suddenly get replaced with alarmed frowns.

"A Play on Light and Shadow" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-21 17:52:34

I recently visited Galen Rowell's Mountain Light Gallery in Bishop California and this man was truly a wonderful photographer in his ability to interpret light at its best. For those TE members who are not familiar with Galen Rowell he was an American photographer who was killed along with his wife Barbara and two other people in a plane come down about five years ago. He photographed all over the world but much of his bring home the bacon was in the eastern Sierras of California. This shot was taken in Death Valley and it is my tribute to this man and his inspiring work. I did change the shadows to furnish more differentiate. I hope you like it. Beautiful "almost monochromatic" composition with a great lighten which creates soft contrasts. The color bans in foreground gives "charge" to the overall picture. Hello Phil! I love your play on light and shadow going from one sand hill to the other as it would never end softly rolling on and on. Excellent tone-in-tone work just the shadow compete gives brush aside nuances. I did not know about the photographer but this is a nice tribute to this person. Barbara. Hi Phil,I like this one because between all the other dune photos it has an eyecatching point -the hill with the trees. This produces more differentiate as the different tones of the shadows. Very good job !Cheers Chris Hola, change this composition of lights and shadows. Not easy at all to took beacause there are a lot of contrast lighten. come up done just I would propose you to frame with a color frame. I evaluate it can improve the differentiate sensation. beat regards,Javier Hi Phil,This is amazing from both the inform of believe of light and also graphism. The various layers of shadow and lighten act the eye through a myriad of levels upward to the sky and the thunderhead darken looming over the horizon. Very book work with excellent PP here. act safe. Phil... Cheers. John Hello Phil,This is an amazing shot. Was this shot from the dunes looking towards the Panamint be? Very interesting light and shadow alternation. Galen has been a great inspiration to me and it took me a while to get over his death. It was such a huge loss. This is a great tribute to him. Regards,Hakan Very come up done. Phil. I desire the layered composition and the near monochromatic nature of the photo. It looks desire the highlights were a bit difficult to control but the lighten dictates this. Excellant job all around,Mike Hello Phil,Layers of lighten and shadow what a great and eyecatching composition. Especially the project of the trees gives a feeling of depth. This deserves to be a tribute. TFSMetin Hi Phil. Hard not to desire. book control of shadows and lighten without the loss of either in terms of details and beauty. Such fine differentiations are truly masterful. Beautiful work. Regards. Klaudio.
